Washington Heights apartments offer its inhabitants a close escape from the rest of the city. Washington Heights is located in northern Manhattan between the Hudson River and the East River. The neighborhood is also bounded by 155th Street on the south, which separates Washington Heights and Harlem, and by Fairview Avenue on the north, a border it shares with Inwood. Washington Heights is the most northern point of Manhattan, providing beautiful views of the rest of the city.
Over the years, the demand for apartments in Washington Heights has grown significantly. More specifically, within the last 10 years, the average income has increased by over $30,000 with many professionals seeking to live in the neighborhood. Washington Heights currently consists of various apartment and condo buildings ranging from modern low-rise buildings to pre-war high-rises. There is also a section of detached single-family homes in the Fort Tryon section of the neighborhood. These houses and apartments allow residents to easily commute to Midtown, while having the option to return home to a much quieter environment.
Washington Heights offers many options to keep its residents busy. There are currently seven parks located within the boundaries of the neighborhood, including Bennett Park and Fort Tryon Park, which are the two highest natural points in all of Manhattan. Washington Heights is also becoming very well known for the art exhibits and museums that it has to offer. One of the most visited museums in the neighborhood is The Cloisters at Fort Tryon Park. The Cloisters, which is run by the Museum of Modern Art, displays pictures, sculptures and architecture from Medieval European countries.
