Financial District Real Estate
Financial District apartments offer residents superior living options at relatively affordable prices in a convenient area near many financial, legal and corporate offices. Famous for being the location of the World Trade Center, Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange, New York City’s Financial District is located on the southern tip of Manhattan, south of Chambers Street and City Hall Park, excluding Battery Park City. During the workday, hundreds of thousands of people can be found in this business-centered neighborhood; however, after dark, its residential population dwindles to much less.
Although the area sometimes is referred to as Wall Street, the Financial District is the name for the actual geographical location, and Wall Street tends to be the label for the financial markets and industry. Other features of the neighborhood include the South Street Seaport, with its maritime museums, historic vessels and shopping mall, and various museums and memorials. Although the area has been known to lack a sufficient restaurant and bar scene after work hours, recent openings of upscale and fun establishments have recently enlivened this part of town.
Many of the residential spaces in the Financial District are apartments and condominiums that have been converted from office space. The people living in the neighborhood are primarily young, high-income singles and couples. While more than a third of residents are married, only a minority of them have children. The neighboring Battery Park City and TriBeCa areas are generally more appropriate for people looking to raise a family downtown.
