Chelsea NYC Apartments
Chelsea apartments offer a variety of living options for people with a range of budgets. The western Manhattan neighborhood is bordered on the north by 34th Street, stretches down to 14th Street, reaches over to the West Side Highway and Hudson River and ends at Fifth Avenue and Broadway. Chelsea has been the primary home to the city’s vibrant art scene, since it made its move from SoHo in the 1990s. The neighborhood is filled with hundreds of galleries and artists’ studios, especially as one moves west towards the river.
Chelsea is also famous for its architecture, from new construction by architects such as Frank Gehry to mid-nineteenth century brick and brownstone townhouses. Over the last decade, there has been a boom in residential luxury high rise construction along Sixth and Seventh Avenues, a popular location for many young professionals. Some noteworthy destinations in Chelsea include Chelsea Piers, once a port for cruise liners and now a favorite for lounging on sunny days and all things sports; Chelsea Market, which holds a large variety of food vendors; Hudson River Park and the bohemian landmark, Hotel Chelsea.
As the hotspot for New York art, the area has attracted many high-fashion boutiques and a wide variety of nightlife options. Big box retailers like Home Depot, Best Buy and Whole Foods exist among food and shopping markets and other small storefront establishments. Real estate in Chelsea extends from townhouses and pre-war co-ops to luxury doorman buildings. With parks, schools, culture, shopping and plenty of transportation options, Chelsea has seen an influx of residents, both singles and families.
