NEW YORK CITY—The real estate brokerage firm has tapped two industry veterans to helm the department.

Level Group, an innovative, full-service commercial and residential real estate brokerage company that introduced the 100% commission model in New York City, today announced the creation of an in-house hospitality team, Morgensheer Hospitality at Level Group. Backed by Level Group’s commercial brokerage resources and headed up by hospitality industry veterans, Trica Jean-Baptiste and Jan Kalanda, Morgensheer Hospitality at Level Group will be uniquely positioned to address the full scope of the hospitality industry’s real estate needs.

With combined experience of over 55 years in the hospitality industry, Jean-Baptiste and Kalanda bring in-house, across-the-board hospitality expertise, including property development, construction, hotel operations, sales, marketing, branding, understanding of key market segments, tour and travel, and travel trade.

The team’s worldwide and deep network of relationships within the hospitality industry, including owners, operators, investors and vendors, opens up multiple avenues to off-market opportunities, several of which Morgensheer Hospitality at Level Group is currently engaged in the New York and the Caribbean markets.

Trica Jean-Baptiste is an award-winning, 22-year veteran of the hospitality industry, specializing in marketing, communications and branding. She has worked in-house for and provided agency representation for legendary hospitality brands such as Doral Hotels & Resorts, Le Parker Meridien, and Cendant Corporation’s (now Wyndham Hotels) Days Inns, Rocco Forte Hotels & Resorts, Michelangelo Hotel New York, Hotel Esprit St-Germain, Paris, France, Ragosta Hotels Collection, Amalfi Coast, Italy, Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort, Tuscany, Italy, the Scottish Business Tourism Unit, and Government of Dubai Tourism Authority.

Jan Kalanda’s 32-year hospitality career includes developing and launching the celebrated Gansevoort Hotels (New York, Miami, and Turks & Caicos). As an executive vice president and founding member of HK Hotels, he directed the development, design, pre-opening and ongoing operation of numerous hotels, including Aria Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic and Hotel Giraffe in New York. He began his hospitality career as Chief Engineer at the Garden City Hotel Garden City, New York .
