Flatiron Real Estate
Flatiron apartments offer residents a unique blend of residential and commercial life in the heart of Manhattan. The Flatiron District is located between Sixth Avenue to the west, Lexington Avenue to the east, Union Square to the south, and 23rd Street to the north. With the surrounding neighborhoods of Gramercy, Chelsea, and Union Square, the centrality of the area produces a diverse mix of occupants.
Named after the landmark Flatiron Building, the Flatiron District’s most enjoyable feature is Madison Square Park, a large park containing the local favorite, Shake Shack, and offering various opportunities for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Around the park are the Met Life Tower, and One Madison Park, showcasing the unique blend of commercial and luxury residential living available within the Flatiron District. Baruch College is located within the district as well as other notable spots, including the Museum of Sex and the Gershwin Hotel, inspired by the work of Andy Warhol.
In other sections of Flatiron, local businesses and restaurants prevail, scattered amongst residential buildings and several big-box retailers. A high concentration of advertising agencies and web start-up companies call Flatiron home, which explains its nickname, New York’s “Silicon Alley.”
With so many options for fine dining and nightlife, as well as its close proximity to the art galleries of Chelsea, the trendy Meatpacking District, and the variety of events and street fairs taking place in and around Union Square, the Flatiron district offers an exciting place to live and work that is accessible to a variety of New York favorites.
