Williamsburg Real Estate
Williamsburg apartments offer residents the luxury of living in a community known and valued for its artistic aesthetic just one subway stop away from Manhattan. The neighborhood covers a wide territory sandwiched between Greenpoint and Bushwick, but is generally bounded by Kent Avenue and the East River to the west, by Flushing Avenue to the South and by Morgan Avenue to the east. Williamsburg can be further divided into three distinct areas that are more like neighborhoods unto themselves, with the L train being the common thread that winds its way through the different sections.
North Williamsburg includes what most people think of when they say Williamsburg, with Bedford Avenue as the main shopping drag and North Sixth Street as restaurant row. South Williamsburg is a gritty combination of low rise brick and frame homes with several new development condos springing up. Nearby, East Williamsburg contains a largely industrial area that borders Bushwick, which is partially comprised of many former factory buildings turned into loft apartments.
Artists once poured into Williamsburg in the 90’s, inspired by both the factory apartments and cheap rent, all of which have become increasingly more expensive throughout the past two decades. Apartments in Williamsburg come in many different flavors ranging from basic walkup buildings to spacious artist lofts to high-rise luxury condos with floor to ceiling glass windows.
Williamsburg is serviced by the now infamous L train that runs across downtown Manhattan and all of Williamsburg, and the “Bedford Stop” is an epicenter of hipsterdom. In the surrounding area, nightlife is a raucous affair with young people flowing and moving in all directions. The area contains a lot of excellent restaurants and shopping, as well as many galleries, cool boutiques, and the well-known flea market. It is not difficult to become enchanted by the exciting nightlife, colorful streets, and artistic atmosphere that residents of Williamsburg take pride in.
